Usually they say something like this; "So during harvest you work for three months REALLY hard, and then the rest of the year you don't do much?" My first reaction (in my head of course) is to give him/her a punch in the kidney, followed by a kick to the groin. But most of the times I control the monkey in me, and just say something like, Yip.
I believe that winemaking starts in the vineyards, and ends in the bottle. True, a big part of winemaking is the harvest and all the sleep deprivation that goes with it, but all winemakers will agree that winemaking is a ongoing process, it is a

live product, and one wrong step and you can have a wine during harvest that you think may win a medal or two, and a few months later the wine shows no character, because the winemaker forgot to give some love and attention to the wine!
Harvest 2011 is a thing of the past, but the rest of 2011 still needs to be dealt with, and hopefully the 2011 wines will find the homes of some our friends and families with laughter and fun in every glass!
